How does this service work?
Register online, make payment and wait for the discreet pack to arrive. Follow the simple instructions and collect a urine sample for the chlamydia and gonorrhoea test and a saliva sample for the HIV test. Send both samples off to the laboratory in the packaging provided. We'll get back to your with your results.
How does DrThom test for HIV by post?
The DrThom HIV home test is just like a normal HIV test apart from the fact that you don't need to go to a clinic to have your blood taken, but collect a saliva sample at home. You then send the saliva sample direct to the laboratory where your saliva sample is tested.
How do I get my results?
When your test results are ready, we'll send you an SMS (text message) telling you to log back into this website to collect your result. If there's any uncertainty as to what the results are, we'll ask you to give us a telephone number to call you on.
When will you send me my pack?
Order before 5:00pm Monday to Friday and your pack will be in that day's first class post.
How long do results take?
Most results are ready within three to five days of your sample reaching the laboratory.
Is this service confidential?
Absolutely. This service is totally confidential. We aren't allowed to inform your GP of the result without your permission.
How long do I have to wait before having a test?
The HIV test is unlikely to be able to detect signs of HIV infection if infection occured within the last three and a half months. The chlamydia test is unlikely to detect chlamydia if you contracted chlamydia within the last two weeks. The gonrrhoea test is unlikely to detect gonorrhoea if you contracted gonorrhoea within the last week.
